- First
of all: our "Backyard"...
Mercury
is the closest planet to the Sun. In a single
day it reaches temperatures of 750 degrees F.
At night -300 degrees F.
(Looks
a little bit like our moon, doesn´t it?)
Venus
is the hottest planet because of a greenhouse
effect. It reachs temperatures of about 477°
C (about 890° F).
Earth
is our home. So far as we know it's the only
place in the solar system that supports human
or any other lifeforms, because it has an atmosphere
and resources that make life possible.
......but who knows, perhaps Europa or Mars
or..........
Mars
is known as the "Red Planet." It almost
exists of carbon dioxide (95%). |
Jupiter
is the largest planet of our solar system. If
Jupiter was hollow, you could fit 1,000 Earths
inside it. |
Saturn
is the second largest planet in mass. Winds on
Saturn can reach 1,100 miles per hour. Saturn
has a less dense than water. If you would have
a large sea that is as big as Saturn, you could
float him in it. |
Uranus
is the third largest planet in our solar system.
It spins north-south instead of east-west. Its
many rings go around the north and south poles
instead of around the equator. Uranus consists
of 83% hydrogen, 15% helium and 2% methane. |
Methane
gases give Neptune its blue/green color.
Storms on Neptune can reach speeds with 1,200
miles per hour (like Saturn). |
- Planet
or no planet, that's the question
Pluto
is the farthest planet from the sun. It is mostly
ice and rock. |
