Why
another site about Astronomy?
Some of you
possibly wonder what's the intention of this website, so here comes
the answer.
Talks with new
friends always run the same way!
He/She:
What are your interests?
I: One
of my greatest interests is astronomy......and for the last two
years particularly SETI.
He/She
(usually somewhat surprised): Why astronomy and what the hell is
SETI?
I: Astronomy
has captivated me from childhood, I've always wanted to know what's
OUT THERE........and SETI stands for Search for Extraterrestrial
Intelligence.
He/She
(after a short pause for reflection sometimes interested , sometimes
a little bit mocking): ......ah....UFOS!
My following
reaction depends upon my mood on that day. In any case the dialogue
changes into a monologue where I try to explain what SETI is all
about and that it has nothing to do with UFOS.
The idea for
this website developed from one of these conversations.
It is actually
the attempt to get our friends, colleagues, relatives......and of
course the rest of the world interested in a subject, which for
us is one of the most fascinating fields of research in science.
